Finding good affiliate programs isn’t an easy task. You run the risk when you sign up to a program that you maybe, just maybe… could get ripped off when it comes to your affiliate pay. Often the best way to avoid this is to go to the bigger ad networks, or affiliate networks and work through them. Some have had a rough go of it, and have had issues in payments as well. But odds are better if you work with a bigger name – such as Commission Junction, ShareaSale, and LinkShare (just to name a few). Not to say that all smaller affiliate programs aren’t worth investigating.
When checking out the smaller affiliate programs – be sure to check out the site itself. The parent site will give you a lot of information on what they sell, how long they’ve been selling and does the site look professional enough that you’d really want to sell their merchandise. It’s all important, remember that you should investigate it well – feel comfortable in chosing the company and its affiliate program, Cross your fingers, and then dive in.
If you’ve been ripped off by an affiliate company or ad network or individual affiliate program – send in a comment about it. I think it’s important to share the knowledge – if you’ve had success at a program or network – send that in – it is very very important to share the information and make it a little easier for everyone.
Well, that’s just what I think about the whole thing anyway.
